Follis (Bronze, 28 mm, 10.85 g, 11 h), Seleucia Isauriae, 5th officina = E, regnal year 7 =616-617. dd NN hERACLIUS ET hERA CONST PP AVC Crowned, with cross on circlet, draped and cuirassed facing busts of Heraclius, on the left, larger and bearded, and, on the right, Heraclius Constantine smaller and beardless; above, between them, cross. Rev. [A/N/N/O] - ЧI // SELISЧ large M surmounted by Christogram; below, E. DOC 180. MIB 192. SB 844. For the undertype, see DOC 163 and SB 533. Fine green surfaces. Overstruck, otherwise, very fine.


This coin is overstruck on a follis of Maurice Tiberius, minted during his eleventh regnal year (592-593) in Theoupolis (Antioch). Considerable traces of the original types are visible on both sides of the coin.
