Sestertius circa 65, Æ 37 mm, 27.43 g. NERO CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG – GERM P M TR P IMP P P Laureate bust r., with aegis. Rev. CONG III (possibly II re-engraved) – DAT – POP Nero, bare-headed and togate, seated r., on platform; official seated r. on another platform extending congiarium to citizen with small boy behind him; Minerva standing l., holding in r. hand owl and spear in l. and Liberalitas standing r., holding tesserae. In exergue, S C. C –. RIC –, cf. 157 (CONG II).
Very rare. Brown patina heavily tooled and partly re-engraved on
reverse, otherwise good very fine
