SICILY. Messana. 475-471 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.15 g, 12 h). Charioteer, holding kentron in his right hand and reins in his left, driving biga of mules to right; in exergue, olive leaf. Rev. MESSENION Hare springing right. Caltabiano 131 (D71/R69). Beautifully toned. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die and with minor marks, otherwise, very fine.
