ANGLO-SAXON, Secondary Sceattas. Circa 730. AR Sceatt (13mm, 1.12 g). SEDE Type (type 89). Uncertain ecclesiastic mint in southeast England (poss. London). Central cross with crosses at ends; S E D E in quarters / Serpent with radiant quills spiraling clockwise around central cross. Naismith, Money, Group 3A, c = De Wit 342 (same obv. die); Sceatta List 93-10; North 47 var. (annulets around cross); SCBC 786. Deeply toned, some porosity, area of weak strike. Near VF. Very rare.
