ANGLO-SAXON, Secondary Sceattas. Circa 730-735. AR Sceatt (12mm, 1.05 g). Series P, type 81. Mint in the east Midlands. Facing 'Wodan' head with radiating hair; saltires pommée flanking beard / Annulet cross with central pellet and no limbs; trefoils in angles; all in double beaded border, chevron pattern in margin. Sceatta List 14–60 var. (form of cross); MEC 8 Series FBd; North –; SCBC 834. Toned. Near VF. Very rare.
