PLANTAGENET. Edward I. 1272-1307. AR Groat (29mm, 5.23 g, 4h). New coinage, variety f.2. London (Tower) mint. Struck circa 1279. Crowned facing bust within double (plain and beaded) quadrilobe, cinquefoils flanking; flowers in spandrels / Long cross pattée; trefoils in quarters. Cf. SCBI 39 (North), 14-5 (for type); North 1003; SCBC 1379F. Broken in two and repaired. Heavily tooled. Fine.
