Russia Medal 1947-1980 "For Military Merit" . The medal "For Military Merit" has the shape of a regular circle with a diameter of 31 - 32.5 mm (depending on the year of manufacture). On the front side of the coin in the inscription "USSR" indented letters covered with ruby-red enamel. The width of the inscription "USSR" is 6 mm the height of the letters is 2.5 mm. In the middle part there is a three-line relief inscription "FOR COMBAT SERVICE". The height of the letters is 3 mm. Under the inscription is an image with a screw bayonet and a loose belt crossed with a checker. The length of the rifle with a bayonet is 23 mm the checkers are 20 mm.
The front side of the coin is bordered by a side 1 mm wide and 0.25 mm high.The reverse side of the coin is smooth .The medal is made of 925 sterling silver. The total weight of silver in the medal (as of September 18 1975) is 18.22 g. The total weight of the medal without a pad is 19.725 ± 1.3 g [31].The medal. with the help of an eye and a ring is connected to a pentagonal block covered with a silk moire ribbon of gray color with two longitudinal golden stripes at the edges.
