Ghana 1.000 Pounds SPECIMEN similar to Pick 4s no SPECIMEN overprints/Cancellations that can be observed on this note dated 1st July 1958 serial number A/1 000000, GEF with minor possible glue mark to lower centre right. Black and white with design much resembling the white Pound notes of the Bank of England from that period, mostly recognised by the flourishes on symbols and the text design and also the denomination design and location at lower left on obverse, also features an illustration of the Bank of Ghana building, Accra. The reverse with ornate design and value. Watermarked "GHANA" in star. The regular notes of this high denomination were only used for inner bank transactions. Cataloguer's note: From my research I can note that usually the Specimen notes of this denomination seen on the internet with the red SPECIEMEN and Thomas de De La Rue overprints, and bearing a SPECIMEN number (as usual for most specimen notes) or come with a diagonal CANCELLED perforation, thus leading me to believe this is possibly a remainder from printing of the SPECIMEN notes that was cut and prepared and was never used as possibly the required number of notes was fulfilled.

Estimate: 350-500 GBP
