Iraq National Bank Sixth issue 1 Dinar Pick 34 Law of 1947 (1953) signature Abdul Ilah Hafiudh serial number B/1 761553, good Fine and Scarce. Blue on multicolour featuring the earlier and popular thinner lips portrait of King Faisal II at right obverse. The reverse illustrates the re-built Equestrian statue of King Faisal I in Baghdad. The original statue of the King was destroyed, following the revolution in 1958, however the new statue was commissioned and erected during the late 1980's. Built in honour of the Hashemite King of Jordan due to Jordan being the most ardent supporters of Iraq in the Iraq and Iran war of 1980-88. Printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. and watermarked King Faisal II small head. Although unconfirmed it is suspected these Sixth issue notes were slowly introduced as needed to meet the requirement for notes in circulation, rather than being a new issue.
Estimate: 100-150 GBP
