Formerly attributed by Boyne to the town of Abingdon, Berks, an example was recovered in the neighbouring parish of Hinxton, Cambs prompting reassignment. Surviving Apprenticeship Rolls from London confirm one Thomas Smith, Grocer's Company, accepted as his apprentice one Thomas Rutland, of Bourn, Cambridgeshire on 2 July 1644..
