An inventory at the time of John Grouse's [sic] death confirms his occupation as tallow-chandler and draper. His shop and warehouse contained woollen and linen cloth and "other mercery wares" to the value of £200.15s.5d. In his Chandlehouse and yard were found "candle tallow, copper pots, wood and turf" of the value of £24.1s.6d. His Will further reveals that his neighbours were in arrears to his business of £306.0.0!
