(AP)RON in rectangular countermark, struck twice, and [V?]AL in a rectangular countermark; all on a bronze sestertius of Augustus. For APRON: Pangerl 112; For VAL: Martini, Locarno 121. Reddish-brown patina with traces of green, scattered pitting. Host Poor; cm's are Good Fine to VF.

The VAL countermark is attributable to Sicily, and appears to have been applied beneath the APRON mark, indicating that this coin traveled from Rome to Sicily to Africa.
