Teos. Circa 510-500 BC. Stater (Silver, 21 mm, 11.71 g). Griffin, with open mouth, seated to right on an ornamental pedestal; his left forepaw raised. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Cf. Balcer 6. Rare. Lightly toned, sharp, well-centered and with a bold and with a most attractive griffin struck in high relief. Minor edge faults, otherwise, extremely fine.
