Time of Ardys to Alyattes, circa 630s-564/53 BC. Trite (Electrum, 12 mm, 4.71 g), Sardes. Head of lion to right, with open jaws; on forehead above eye, sun with rays. Rev. Two incuse squares. SNG Ashmolean 748. Weidauer Group XV, 67. With a particularly ferocious lion. Minor bankers' marks on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
