Philomelion. Late 2nd-1st century BC. AE (Bronze, 23 mm, 7.36 g, 2 h), struck under the magistrates Dama... and Eu..., time of Mithridates VI, 90s-80s BC. Winged and draped bust of Nike to right, with palm branch over her far shoulder. Rev. ΦΙΛΟΜΗΛ / ΔΑΜ-Α ΕΥ Two bound cornucopiae; between them, eight-pointed star within crescent above thunderbolt. BMC-. Hunterian 1. SNG Copenhagen -. SNG von Aulock -. Apparently very rare with these magistrates. Bold, attractive and with a fine dark brown patina. Extremely fine.
