Marathos. 226/5-187/6 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 16.77 g, 12 h), year 34 = 226-225. Turreted head of the Tyche of Marathos to right. Rev. MAPAΘHNΩN /???? N-IIII (st 34 in Phoenician) Marathos seated left on pile of shields, holding aphlaston and filleted branch. Cf. BMC 1 (same dies but date recut to 34 from 33). DCA 821, (this coin, but date given as 33 rather than the correct 34). Cf. Rouvier 821. Very rare. With a bold and attractive obverse. Good very fine/fine.
