Phoenicia
Tyre. Circa 425-394 BC. Shekel (Silver, 24 mm, 13.65 g, 10 h). Melqarth, riding on a hippocamp to right, holding bow and arrows with his left hand and the reins with his right; below, dolphin swimming to right under waves; around, corded border. Rev. Owl standing to right, before crook and flail. Cf. E&E-T Group II.1.1.1.a, 302 (but dies apparently unpublished: obverse close to O30-O36 and reverse to R31 ff.). Struck on a broad flan from finely engraved dies. Obverse slightly off-center and with a flan fault on the body of the owl, otherwise, extremely fine.
