Metapontum. Circa 300-250 BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 15 mm, 3.18 g, 7 h). Athena Alkidemos advancing to right, brandishing spear with her right hand and holding shield with her left. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Owl standing right, head facing; to right, barley ear. HN III 1704. Johnston 68a. SNG ANS 562-4. SNG Lloyd 412. Very sharp and attractive, with a brown patina. Both sides struck slightly off-center, otherwise, extremely fine.
