Alexius III Angelus-Comnenus, 1195-1203. Aspron Trachy (Electrum, 28 mm, 4.48 g, 6 h), Constantinople, 1195-1197. [KE RO] – HΘEΙ / IC - XC Christ, nimbate, seated facing on backless throne, wearing pallium and colobium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding Book of Gospels in his left. Rev. AΛεZIωC ΔεCΠ KωNTANT Alexius III, on left, wearing crown, divitision and loros, and St. Constantine, on right, in similar attire, both standing facing, each holding a cruciform scepter and together supporting a labarum between them. DOC 2c. SB 2009. Lustrous, sharp and attractive. Obverse slightly double-struck and minor graffito on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
