Olynthos. Circa 500 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.06 g, 9 h). Bearded charioteer, holding whip in his upraised right hand and the reins in his left, driving quadriga walking to right; above horses, large pellet; between the horses's tails and their hind legs, tiny Χ. Rev. Eagle flying to left within a shallow incuse square surrounded by a thick, rough square concentric border; all within a large shallow incuse square. Cahn, Olynthus, Type B, 12 (this coin). SNG Lockett 1377 (same dies). Extremely rare. Attractively toned. Good very fine.
