Lot of 8 Greek Æ Coins:

1. Attica, Athens. Ca. 454-404 BC. Æ diobol, 1.78g.Helmeted head of Athena right / double bodied owl standing facing; olive spray in upper corners. HGC 4, 1644. Nearly very fine.

2. Attica, Eleusis. Ca. 340-335 BC. Æ14, 2.65 g. Triptolemos, holding grain ear, seated left in winged chariot being drawn by two serpents / Pig standing right on mystic staff. BMC 1-7. Rare. Fine. This statue of Triptolemos was presumably still in its temple when Pausanias (I. 38, 6) visited Eleusis in about AD 160: " The Eleusians have a temple to Triptolemos... They say that the plain called Rharion was the first to be sown and the first to grow crops... Here is shown a threshing floor and altar. My dream forbade the description of the things within the wall of the sanctuary, and the uninitiated are of course not permitted to learn that which they are prevented from seeing."

3. Corinthia, Corinth. Ca. 340-335 BC. Æ11, 2.27 g. Pegasos flying left; below: Ϙ / trident head; A to left. Cf. BCD Corinth 237. Very fine.

4. Corinthia, Corinth. Ca. 335-306 BC. Æ13, 1.79 g. Pegasos flying left; below: Ϙ / trident head; [ΔΙ to left], thyrsos to right. BCD Corinth 246. Very fine.

5. Corinthia, Corinth. Ca. 303-287 BC. Æ12, 1.76 g. Pegasos flying left; [below: Ϙ] / trident head; torch to right. BCD Corinth 283. Very fine.

6. Lydia, Thyateira. 2nd century BC. Æ15, 3.5g.Laureate head of Apollo right / bipennis between ΘVATЄI-PHNΩN. SNG Copenhagen 570. Very Fine.

7. Phrygia, Apameia. Ca. 88-40 BC. Æ22, 8.21 g. Helmeted bust of Athena left / eagle right above maeander pattern; to left and right: eight-pointed star above piloi of the Dioskouroi; [below: magistrates name]. SNG Copenhagen 163. Very fine.

8. Islands off Caria, Rhodos. Rhodes, ca. 350-300 BC. Æ11, 1.54 g. Head of nymph Rhodos right / P O Rose with bud right. BMC 74ff. Good Fine.
