ANCIENT COINS. GREEK. Kingdom of Macedon, Alexander III, The Great (336-323 B.C.), Silver Tetradrachm, 17.30g, 8h. Mint of "Amphipolis", struck under Philip III and Alexander IV, c.322-317 B.C. Head of young Herakles facing right, wearing a lion's skin. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΛEΞANΔPOY, Zeus enthroned left, holding a sceptre and an eagle, a Phrygian helmet in left field (Price 112; Müller 854). Excellent metal quality, with pale satin hues, bold strike, extremely fine.
