ANCIENT COINS. GREEK. Kingdom of Syria, Seleucid Kings, Antiochos I (280-261 B.C.), Silver Tetradrachm, 16.85g, 1h. Mint of Seleucia on the Tigris, struck c.274-270 B.C. Head of Antiochos I facing right, wearing a diadem. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ANTIOXOY, Apollo, naked ecept for drapery on his right thigh, seated left on omphalos, holding an arrow in his extended right hand and a bow in his left, monograms on right and in exergue (Houghton & Lorber, SC 379.2; Newell, ESM 148; SNG Spaer 288). A wholly exceptional example, with a superb portrait struck in very high relief, outstanding iridescent cabinet tone, good extremely fine, superb.
