ANCIENT COINS. JUDAEA. Kingdom of Baktria, Eukratides I (c.171-145 B.C.), Silver Tetradrachm, Attic standard, 16.08g, 12h. Diademed heroic bust facing left, seen from behind, wearing a helmet adorned with bull's ear and horn, and brandishing a javelin. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ MEΓAΛOY, above, EYKPATIΔOY in exergue, the Dioskouroi riding right, holding palm-fronds over their shoulders and lowered spears, a monogram beneath horses (Bop. Sér. 8B; MIG 179a; SNG ANS 485). Some light roughness and porosity, lightly toned, good very fine and of excellent style.
