ANCIENT COINS. JUDAEA. Kyrenaika, Kyrene (c.460 B.C.), Silver Tetradrachm, 16.78g, 4h. Silphium plant. Rev. KYPA, bearded head of Zeus Ammon facing right, with a large ram's horn and a diadem, all within a raised circle within an incuse circle (BMC 42, pl. V, 16 (these dies); Babelon, Traité III, pl. 263, 5; Boston 1310). Wonderful transitional style, with a severe head of Zeus Ammon, toned, good very fine / very fine. Rare.
