ANCIENT COINS. ROMAN. Tiberius (A.D. 14-37), Silver Denarius, 3.77g, 7h. Mint of Lugdunum. TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVGVSTVS, head of Tiberius facing right, wearing a laurel-wreath. Rev. PONTIF MAXIM, female figure (Livia?) seated right, holding a sceptre and a branch (RIC 30; BMC 48; C 16). An absolutely superb example, perfectly struck on good metal, with a portrait of the finest style, beautiful iridescent old cabinet tone, good extremely fine. A wholly exceptional coin.
