ANCIENT COINS. ROMAN. Titus (A.D. 79-81), AE Sestertius, 26.95g, 6h. Struck A.D. 72. Judaea Captas Series. T CAES VESPASIAN IMP PON TR POT COS II, head facing right, wearing a laurel-wreath. Rev. IVDAEA CAPTA / S C, Titus, wearing military dress, standing to right, holding a spear and a parazonium, his left foot resting on a helmet; before him is Judaea seated to right on a cuirass beside a palm-tree, in an attitude of mourning (RIC 422; BMC 631; C 113; Hendin 1523). Dark brown patina, a solid good very fine and in an unusually fine state of preservation for this issue. A very rare coin from the 'Judaea Capta' series.

The 'Judaea Capta' issues of Titus are considerably rarer than those of his father Vespasian, and this seldom seen coin is a very attractive example from the series commemorating the great Flavian victory.
