WORLD COINS. ITALY. A Lion Hunt. Uniface Circular Cast Bronze Plaquette. AE, 180.20g, 76mm. By Galeazzo Mondella, called Moderno (c.1467-1528/9). Obv. Naked warriors, three on horseback, one standing, surround another who, fallen to the ground, is attacked by a lion. Rev. Smoothed and rounded at the edge (Kress, Pope Hennessey 168, pl.164; Lewis 28; Toderi 173; Adams 55). Cast on a thick [6mm] flan. Very fine, some tooling on the obverse, dark patination.
