ANCIENT COINS. GREEK. Lucania, Herakleia (c.281-278 B.C.), Silver Stater, 6.36g, 1h. Head of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet, AΛE above, EY behind neck. Rev. Herakles standing facing, a lion's skin draped over his left arm, holding a bow in his left hand and resting his right on a club above which an owl flies (Van Keuren 103, pl. 11 (this reverse die); SNG ANS 86 (this reverse die); HN Italy 1400). Attractive iridescent cabinet tone, obverse die a little worn, otherwise nearly extremely fine.
