ANCIENT COINS. GREEK. Kingdom of Macedon, Philip II (359-336 B.C.), Silver Tetradrachm, 14.38g, 8h. Mint of Amphipolis, struck c.316-311 B.C., while Kassander was regent. Head of Zeus facing right, wearing a laurel-wreath. Rev. ΦIΛIΠ-ΠOY, youth on horseback right, crowning his horse with a palm-frond, Π. by horse's foreleg, dolphin swimming downwards beneath its midsection (Le Rider, pl. 46, 19). Very attractive toning, choice extremely fine.
