Variety with LCW initials beneath bust (incompletely struck). While originally designated as Haxby-MSH-2a, in an updated version of his article shared with the cataloger, this die pairing is not listed in coin alignment.
Pattern obverse (Haxby die SH-1): L.C.W. (for Leonard Charles Wyon) below bust. Bust tip ends well to the left of the 1 of the date below.
Pattern reverse (Haxby die SH-B): Small bud under V of PROVINCE; normal V of PROVINCE; broken stem under PR of PROVINCE.
