Newfoundland "Ship/1858" 1/2 Penny Token 1858 AU58 Brown NGC, Br-954 (R4), NF-3A2 (Doubtful), Courteau-9 (R9), Robins-29190. Plain edge. Medal alignment. "Closed 5" variety, with no H's in the waves at the right. Bordering on conditional rarity so near to Mint State, and containing considerable red color between the masts.
For reference, we note that the open and closed 5 varieties noted in Charlton (NF-3A1 and NF-3A2) in fact constitute a single variety.
