Lower Canada copper Overstruck Mule "Bouquet Sou/Speed the Plow" Token ND (1900s) MS62 Brown NGC, Br-Unl., cf. LC-44A (for obverse), DeLorey-83/CA-2 (for reverse). Overstruck on a Bank of Montreal Trade & Agriculture UN SOUS token (cf. LC-2). Plain edge. Medal alignment. A rare 'restrike' piece produced by Thomas Elder in the early part of the 20th century using an existing UN SOUS token as his planchet. Charlton notes (on pg. 122 of the 10th edition) that brass Elder restrikes pairing a Speed the Plough reverse with dies copied from LC-44 are known, though he does not mention the overstriking of preexisting Canadian tokens.
Although deemed 'restrikes', the Elder Speed the Plough Tokens were produced long after the Hard Times tokens of the 1830s, and thus no 'original' strikes exist.
