Province of Canada. Quebec "Hunterstown" Token 1852 XF Details (Reverse Tooled) NGC, Br-567 (R4), MT-4, LeRoux-597 (R7), Robins-29537. Plain edge. Medal alignment. A superbly rare token issue that almost universally survives in lower grades, when it is encountered at all. Originally made by the Hunterstown Lumber Co. on the Riviére du Loup in Quebec to be redeemable by employees in the company store for a halfpenny's worth, this is only the second example we can locate coming to auction in the past several decades--the last, an XF45 Brown and the finest known, bringing $8400 in our last Doug Robins sale.
