FRANCE, Royal. Charles VI le Bien-Aimé/le Fol (the Well-Beloved/the Mad). 1380-1422. AR Blanc dit Guénar (26mm, 2.76 g, 10h). Uncertain mint. First emission, authorized 11 March 1385. Coat-of-arms / Cross pattée; alternating lis and crowns in angles. Duplessy 377; Ciani 506. Toned, some deposits. VF.
From the David J. Fleischmann Collection.
This specimen features the long O, suggesting it is from the first emission, but no marks are visible below any of the letters on either the obverse or reverse to indicate the mint. That fact, combined with the low weight, suggests that the present example may be a contemporary imitation.
