Vlasto-877-81; HN Italy-1033. Obverse: Warrior, holding shield and two spears, preparing to cast a third, on horse rearing right; ΔI to left, API ΣTO/KΛHΣ in two lines below; Reverse: Phalanthos, holding kantharos and trident, on dolphin left; to right, head of nymph left. Featuring a solid, fairly well centered strike on each side along with some pleasing toning, this choice example is a great representative piece from the popular 'dolphin rider' coinage of Tarentum.
