AUGUSTUS, with AGRIPPA, 27 B.C.- A.D. 14. Gaul, Nemausus. AE Dupondius (11.44 gms), ca. 16-10 B.C. NGC F, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5. Countermark.
RPC-1, 523; RIC-157. Obverse: Heads of Agrippa left, wearing rostral crown and laurel wreath, and Augustus right, wearing oak wreath, back to back; uncertain countermark on the neck of Augustus; Reverse: Crocodile right chained to palm frond with short fronds; wreath with long ties above, palms fronds below. Rather well circulated, but with solid detail remaining. Popular type with Augustus and his best friend, Marcus Agrippa.
