FRANCE. Charles De Secondat, Baron De Montesquien Bronze Medal, 1753. CHOICE ABOUT UNCIRCULATED.
Eisler-370. Diameter: 55mm. By J.A. Dassier. Obverse: Bust left; Reverse: Allegorical Justice on ground with Truth floating in clouds. An expertly engraved medal with attractive iridescence in the gleaming fields. A minuscule edge bruise is noted on the reverse edge at 2 o'clock, but is barely visible when viewed straight on.

Charles De Secondat, Baron De Montesquien (1689-1755) was a French judge who is well-remembered for his contributions to philosophy. Among his political theories was "separation of powers" and his anonymously published The Spirit of Law (1748) is said to have influence America's Founding Fathers, with concepts addressed within being incorporated into the United States Constitution.
