GREAT BRITAIN. Queen Anne's Bounty Bronze Medal, 1704. PCGS SPECIMEN-64 Gold Shield.
Eimer-404; MI-251/43. By Croker. Obverse: Laureate and draped bust left; Reverse: Anne seated right on throne, holding scepter and presenting charter to members of the clergy kneeling left. Edge: Plain. Free of significant instances of handling with a few brighter spots on the highest points of the raised design. Seldom seen in this lofty certified grade, with this being the single finest in this metal certified by PCGS to date.

Following Henry VIII's transition away from the Catholic church, the Pope's levy of the first-fruits and tenths become payable to the crown rather than the clergy. Upon the insistence of Bishop Burnet, Anne transferred this revenue back, establishing a fund for poorer members of the clergy which later became known as 'Queen Anne's Bounty.'

Estimate: $250.00- $350.00
