Gallia. Bituriges Cubi. Bourgeas area. 1st century BC. AV Stater (7.01g, 6h). LT -; DT 3409. Lightly toned. Usual areas of weakness. A superb example of Celtic numismatic art. Choice extremely fine. From a European private collection; former Henri Labouret (1878-1959) collection

The Bituriges was a Gallic tribe with its capital at Bourges (Avaricum). Their name supposedly meant 'kings of the world'. Early in the 1st century BC, they had been one of the main Gallic tribes.
