RUSSIAN MEDALS. MEDALS OF ALEXANDER III. Medal. Silver. 46 mm. By Christlbauer, designed by Carl Adolf Romstorfer. In honor of the Industrial Museum of Bukovina in Czernowitz (Chernivtsi in the Ukraine), n.d. (after 1887). Hauser 4208. Crowned, and ermine mantled Arms of Bukovina, Romanian and Ukrainian legend / Two shields, side by side, with the arms of the trade guilds, German legend above and below, all within a wreath of laurel and corn-ears. An extremely rare, trilingual medal of this historic region. Lovely toning. Choice about uncirculated. An Austrian architect, Romstorfer was a teacher at the State Industrial School of Czernowitz and later its director. He was responsible for the restoration of several important historical and architectural monuments in Bukovina.
