RUSSIAN MEDALS. Russian Émigrés in Exile. MEDALS OF THE CIRCLE / SOCIETY OF AMATEURS OF THE RUSSIAN MILITARY PAST. On 3 March 1946, through the initiative of P.V. Pashkov and A.A. Stakhovich, the Circle of Amateurs of the Russian Military Past was organized at Asnières near Paris. The initial roster was made up of twelve members living in or near Paris. By its heyday, the group numbered some 300 members from all the lands where émigrés had found refuge. The Circle was not only for militaria enthusiasts, but also for numismatists, postcard collectors, exlibrists and other related specialists. In 1952, the name was changed to the Society of Amateurs of the Russian Military Past; and in the 1960s to The Society of Those Who Cherish the Russian Military Past. Medal. Bronze. 58.3 mm.
