Tu Duc 5 Tien ND (1848-1883) MS65 NGC, KM458, Schr-372.1. 18.30gm. A magnificent example of this 5 Tien type ranking as the finest of only two examples seen by NGC, the lower certified of which sold for $10,200 including Buyer's Premium in our December 2018 Hong Kong Auction (Lot 30049). Though there is much to say for the quality of that specimen, the current offering certainly earns its additional grade point, its visual appeal remarkably balanced and the surfaces lacking any meaningfully distracting signs of handling or contact. Lightly toned throughout, a combination of graphite, silver, and golden accents yielding an unmistakable visual charm that only adds to the offering's undeniable technical allure.
