China
Qing Dynasty. Szechuan Piaoding ("Certified") Sycee of 11 Taels ND (19th-20th Century), Cribb-Class XL.F. 62mm. 406.39gm. The stamp reads: "Yi Mao Lu" (bank or smith name). An attractive example of this popular sycee type, with light evidence of circulation doing nothing to impinge of the legibility of the characters. For reference, a similar example of the same ingot, weighing 12 Taels, appeared in a recent Hong Kong sale, where the characters were identified as a bank name, and which realized $1450.
This lot has not yet been assigned a grade, as it will be submitted to Gong Bo for certification before the auction.
