Kwangtung. Kuang-hsü Specimen 50 Cents ND (1890-1905) SP61 NGC, Kwangtung mint, KM-Y202, L&M-134, Kann-27, WS-0943, Wenchao-565. A remarkable example whose stunning array of rich tones would seem to elevate it above even higher graded examples in terms of overall appeal. Noticeably sun-gold around the dragon with a similar opalescent obverse (reverse as holdered) to the corresponding specimen dollar appearing in this sale. It is one of a mere handful of pieces awarded the specimen designation by NGC.
