Republic Yuan Shih-kai "Plumed Hat" Dollar ND (1916) MS65+ PCGS, Tientsin mint, KM-Y332, L&M-942, Kann-663. Struck for the inauguration of Yuan Shih-kai as Emperor Hung-hsien. A remarkable example of this widely recognized Republican rarity, immersed in gently dappled amber tones and speckled with aged copper hues, touches of fiery red coloration enlivening the fields and devices. This difficult type remains a scarce commodity in finer grades, particularly so past choice levels of certification, yet enters into a new league of rarity at the gem level.
