Republic Tsao Kun Dollar ND (1923) MS65 PCGS, Tientsin mint, L&M-959, Kann-678. Depicting Tsao Kun in military uniform and produced during the short presidency of Tsao Kun before General Feng Yuxiang's coup in 1924. A simply magnificent representative of this single-year type displaying utterly superior surface preservation in conjunction with characteristically medallic devices that stand in high relief over the surrounding fields. What is truly astounding about this specimen, beyond its lofty gem grade, is that even this acknowledgement of its high quality seems conservative, the surfaces on the whole bearing almost imperceptibly little handling, only the delicately laid gold and light toffee tones and palpable luster leaving a lasting impression on the viewer.
