China
Kansu. Republic Yuan Shih-kai Dollar Year 3 (1914) XF40 PCGS, Lanchow mint, KM-Y407, L&M-617 (mislabeled as L&M-63D), Kann-759. With characters "Kan Su" to either side of the bust. A very rare provincial Yuan Shih-kai issue, and the first of just two Republican silver dollars struck in the province, with the majority of surviving examples showing evidence of cleaning. With a light and even layer of wear producing a soft, nearly matte, finish to the surfaces, the offering strikes the viewer as naturally patinated and unaltered, the addition of darkened toning along the devices accenting the strike and providing yet further visual appeal.
