Republic Sun Yat-sen copper Obverse & Reverse Uniface Specimen Patterns for "Junk" Dollar Year 23 (1934) SP64 Brown PCGS, cf. KM-Pn139 (for standard copper pattern), Kann-624x (same), L&M-Unl. A very rare and apparently unpublished pair of off-metal obverse and reverse trials, only a small handful of which have appeared at auction, with the set seen here being tied for the finest certified for both the obverse and reverse within the PCGS census. The blank side of each piece features bold centric die striations, each trial appearing rather glossy and darkly patinated with lightened cupric toning accents at the raised features. This is only the second such set we have offered, the last, certified SP62 Brown, bringing $9300.
