"Assault on Taku Forts" silver Proof Medal 1900-Dated PR66 Ultra Cameo NGC, Marienburg-7172, Li-pg. 101. 35mm. Struck to commemorate the assault of the Eight Nations Alliance up the Haihe River in China, where they experienced large casualties, but were ultimately successful in taking the Taku Forts. Heavily cameoed across both sides with thick devices frosting accentuated a rich sunset-orange tone in the recessed areas and bold surface mirroring. The first example we have seen with likely few surviving finer.
